Dustin Smith attended the Kansas School Transportation Safety Conference in Wichita, where he was recognized as the Division IV winner of the Kansas School Bus Safety Poster Contest for the State of Kansas. Dustin was honored during a special awards luncheon celebrating this achievement. His poster will now represent Kansas at the national-level school bus safety competition! A special thank you to Mrs. Danelle McGhee for helping organize the poster contest, and encouraging the students with their artwork! We are so proud of you, Dustin!

Dear Lancers, I hope your summer break is off to a great start! Today, I’m writing with an update about the cell phone ban law passed by the Kansas Legislature in March. When this law takes effect in July, it will prohibit students from having or using their cell phones and other personal communication devices during the school day, including during lunch. We understand that this will be a big change for many people. That’s why our district is already working hard to plan for the smoothest transition possible for staff and students. Our Board of Education will be approving a new policy to support this mandate. We’ve set up a Frequently Asked Questions page on our website with some basic information about the new law and how it will be implemented at Crest.
