Crest has received funding through the FCC’s Emergency Connectivity Fund to provide broadband access to students who would otherwise lack sufficient access to engage in remote learning.

This funding has been used to acquire U.S. Cellular mobile hotspots, and the district has already started the process of distributing these hotspots to students whose parents specified need on an enrollment form for the 2020-2021 school year.

As of now, all families who specified a need on the 2020-2021 enrollment form have received a hotspot. However, Crest still has many hotspots remaining, and many households with students at Crest are likely qualified to receive a hotspot.

The FCC leaves the responsibility of determining eligibility to the schools. Your student(s) may be eligible to receive a U.S. Cellular hotspot from Crest with all services paid through June 30th, 2022 if your student(s):

  • Lack internet access at one or more guardian homes.
  • Utilize a phone hotspot for their primary internet connection at one or more guardian homes.
  • Have access to less than 1.5 Mbps upload speed per student at one or more guardian homes.

If your student meets any of these criteria, please fill out the following form (due to availability, only one hotspot is currently being handed out per family unit – this may change in the future):

Crest would like to make clear that if students receive a hotspot, they should be sure to utilize the hotspot at least once per month, as the district is not reimbursed for lines on a monthly basis that are not showing use.

For questions concerning this matter, please feel free to contact [email protected] or your building principal.
